Be The Tall Poppy
Be bold enough to stand out. Daring enough to chase your dreams. Courageous enough to be the Tall Poppy!
Here in Australia, we have a culture of sweeping people’s legs as they try to stand.. or in other words, we chop the stems of all the Tall Poppy’s so that they’re the same height as everyone else.
I DESPISE this type of culture. Whenever someone is trying something different, doing something which means they don’t 'fit in”.. they get judged, looked down upon as if they’ve done something wrong. They’re clowned, shamed and embarrassed for not being like everyone else.
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH US!
People go from 0 to 100 real fucking quick.
It’s a constant cycle of “what the fuck is he doing?”, “Why’s she doing that?” “What’s wrong with them?” to “I went to school with that guy!”, “I used to play tennis with her!”.. when you inevitably start succeeding.
I saw this happen at school, in life and for years, I was scared to voice my opinion. I was scared to support the person who was being clowned for being bold enough to craft the life they want.
A few years later.. I’m the one being clowned. Do I know it’s happening? Yeah. Does it bother me? Occasionally. Will I keep showing up each and every day because the noise of others who aren’t where I want to be in life is irrelevant? ABSOFUCKENLUTELY
Be the Tall Poppy.
